Preserving the Living Heritage of North Texas
The North Texas Native Genetics Expedition is a long-term research and conservation initiative of The Tree Museum of Dallas focused on documenting the native plants, trees, habitats, and locally adapted genetics that remain across North Texas. Through field surveys, ecological monitoring, photography, specimen documentation, and conservation partnerships, TMD is building a lasting record of the landscapes that define our region.
Native plants are shaped by generations of adaptation to local soils, rainfall, temperature, wildlife, and seasonal conditions.
Preserving North Texas-origin plant material helps protect this regional diversity and provides valuable resources for future restoration, research, education, and habitat conservation.
Our goal is not simply to record what grows here today, but to help preserve the biological history that makes North Texas unique.
